Use of Pecha Kucha in nursing: A systematic review

Abstract

This systematic review aimed to identify the areas of use of Pecha Kucha presentation technique in nursing education and the characteristics of the studies in which it was used. Materials and methods: The study was conducted by searching national and international studies published in the last 10 years in PubMed, Google Scholar, Web of Science, Science Direct, Medline databases using the keywords "Pecha Kucha", "Nursing Education" and "Nursing". When the publication years of the studies were examined, it was determined that the studies conducted in the last 10 years were conducted between 2020 and 2023, and one was published in 2020, two in 2023 and the remaining studies (5) were published in 2022. Findings: The eight articles included are studies in the experimental-control group quantitative research design. When we look at the content of these studies conducted with experimental methods, we see that all of them preferred randomization as the sample selection method. When looking at the publication years of the studies, it was found that the studies conducted in the last 10 years were conducted between 2020 and 2023, with one published in 2020, two in 2023 and the remaining studies (5) published in 2022. Conclusion: It can be seen that the use of the Pecha Kucha presentation technique in nursing is a newly established concept and the number of studies conducted in this area is limited. Looking at the content of the studies, it is clear that the design of the studies is similar. Therefore the use of Pecha Kucha presentation technique enriches health education. In addition, a small number of studies indicate that more emphasis should be placed on this topic, while the increase in studies conducted in recent years indicates that the Pecha Kucha presentation technique is being used more in nursing and nursing education and is useful in educational activities.

Hemşirelikte Pecha Kucha kullanımı: Bir sistematik derleme

Abstract

Bu sistematik derlemenin amacı, hemşirelik eğitiminde Pecha Kucha sunum tekniğinin kullanım alanları ve kullanıldığı çalışmaların özelliklerini belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmada PubMed, Google Scholar, Medline, Science Direct, Web of Science, veri tabanlarında son 10 yıl içerisinde yayımlanan “Pecha Kucha”, “Hemşirelik eğitimi” ve “Hemşirelik” anahtar kelimeleri kullanılarak ulusal ve uluslararası çalışmaların taraması yapılmıştır. Tarama sonucunda 592 çalışmaya ulaşılmıştır. Dışlama kriterleri dikkate alındığında 592 veriden 8 araştırma değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Bulgular: Kapsama alınmış olan sekiz makale deney kontrol gruplu nicel araştırma desenindeki çalışmalardır. Deneysel yöntem ile yapılmış bu çalışmaların içeriğine bakıldığında tümünün örneklem seçme yöntemi olarak randomizasyonu tercih ettiği görülmektedir. Çalışmaların yayım yılları incelendiğinde ise son 10 yıl içerisinde yapılmış çalışmaların 2020-2023 yılları arasında yapıldığı ve 2020 yılında bir tane olmak üzere 2023 yılında iki adet ve kalan çalışmalarında (5) 2022 yılında yayımlandığı tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç: Hemşirelik alanında Pecha Kucha sunum tekniği kullanımının yeni yerleşen bir kavram olduğu ve bu alanda yapılmış çalışmaların sınırlı sayıda olduğu görülmektedir. Çalışmaların içeriği incelendiğinde yapılmış çalışmaların tasarımlarının benzer formatta olduğu ve Pecha Kucha sunum tekniği kullanımının sağlık alanında eğitimleri zenginleştirdiği görülmektedir. Bu sebeple Pecha Kucha sunum tekniğinin hemşirelikte kullanılması uygundur. Ek olarak, az sayıda çalışma bu konuya daha fazla vurgu yapılması gerektiğini, son yıllarda çalışmalardaki artış ise Pecha Kucha sunum tekniğinin hemşirelikte ve hemşirelik eğitiminde daha fazla kullanılacağını ve eğitim faaliyetlerinde faydalı olacağını göstermektedir.
