Abstract
Aim: The purpose of this study is to examine the Sport and Technology Relationship Project realized in Balıkesir within the scope of TÜBİTAK 4007 Science Festival in terms of various variables.
Methods: The universe of this study consists of 274 secondary and high school students from Balıkesir provinces and districts who visited the Sport and Technology Relationship Project organized within the scope of TUBITAK 4007 science festivals. In determining the students' attitudes towards technology, the "Technology Attitude Scale" and the "Measuring the Satisfaction Levels of the Workshops" questionnaire to determine the satisfaction levels of the workshops prepared within the scope of the project were used. The normality of the data was determined by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. After the data were not distributed normally, Mann-Whitney u and Kruskal-Wallis H tests were applied and the level of significance was taken as 0.05.
Results: According to the findings of the research, it was determined that the Contribution and Importance of Technology sub-dimension in the scale had the highest average, and significant differences were found between variables of gender, school and class and some sub-dimensions.
Conclusion: It is observed that the level of technology orientation of male students is higher than that of women, and that women adopt the negativity of technology more than men. While secondary school students make more gender discrimination against technology than high school students, high school students accept the contribution and importance of technology more than secondary school students. It can be thought that with the advancement of the education level and the more effective use of technology by students, the prejudice of gender discrimination in technology has disappeared and they have started to understand the importance of technology better. In addition, the data obtained at the end of the project made it clear that the participants left the workshops and activities within the technology-sports relationship organized within the scope of the science festival, and the activity served its purpose.
