Since a substantial part of soldiers of the Ottoman Empire had been demobilized and their arms and equipment were taken away as per the provisions of the Armistice of Mudros, there was not even a possibility to succeed in an attempt to counter the Allied Powers with the limited number of conventional forces available, and also such an attempt would mean giving them the opportunity they had been waiting for to occupy Anatolia. From this point of view, particularly in the initial stage of the National Struggle Period, unconventional warfare was adopted rather than conventional warfare and utmost effort was made in order to spread the resistance movement to all segments of the society. However, since the Turkish military historiography is focused on battles, the said unconventional warfare activities could not be brought to light with all the details and the relation of the National Struggle Period over battles continued. This approach prevented the aforementioned period which is an extremely rich laboratory in terms of unconventional warfare to be understood as is due and take its rightful place in national/international literature. In this article written based on the archival documents in order to contribute to filling a gap in the literature, “historical method” is adopted which is a method used in setting forth of cases/phenomena happened in the past or in examining the relation of a problematic with the past and “archival research” and “literature review” methods were used as data collection technique.
