Low fuel consumption and affordable prices have made motorcycle use increasingly popular. Particularly the common, but not appropriate, motorcycle driving habit that avoids traffic by riding in between lanes of moving or stopped vehicles rather than moving on the lanes provides an apparent advantage for motorcycles especially during slow, frustrating traffic. Although this habit, which ignores the right of ways, makes travel possible without being exposed to traffic congestion, it increases the likelihood of an accident and can lead to serious accidents resulting in severe injuries or even deaths. Since motorcycles are generally evaluated together with other means of transportation in terms of accidents, studies focusing solely on motorcycle accidents are not sufficient in our country. In this study, written accident reports kept in 2005-2009 period in Antakya, Hatay, were obtained with a special permission, and have been examined in detail. Accidents related to motorcycles are first sorted out, then the causes of accidents are investigated and the current situation is evaluated based on the results obtained.
