ABSTRACT
In this study, eye diseases of cattle, sheep and goats of different ages, sexes and races in 51 districts of Başiskele, Izmit and Kandıra which are the central districts of Kocaeli province were examined. A total of 20 eye diseases were identified in 338 animals, of which 180 were of 8451 cattle and 158 were of 5221 sheep-goats. The incidence of any eye disease was 2.13% in the total cattle population and 3.31% in the sheep-goat population. Conjunctivitis cataralis was found to be 56.67% in cattle and 60.12% in sheep and goat. Among the bovine breeds, one or more diseases were first seen in the Holstein 1.30% race, followed by the Simental 1.01% race. The rate of infectious eye diseases were detected as 91.50% and the rate of noninfectious eye diseases were detected 8.50% among the sick animals. As a result, the fact that the foreign substances transported do not cause problems in the eyes due to the absence of long winds in the region, the shelter conditions are good, the suitability of the care and feeding conditions, and the animal owners' being conscious of animal husbandry in a way that can be considered as conscious, has also been effective in determining the low incidence of eye diseases. This work; It was carried out for a long period of the year in order to determine the variety and incidence of eye diseases in Izmit and its surroundings, where green pastures are found, and animals are well cared for and fed.
