Abstract
This short essay expresses the experiences of a musician from the first hand in order to show how
the imagination of an artist interrupted due to the conditions in pandemic and to which direction
the working practices changed. Basically, Scott Wollshlegher, a contemporary classical music
composer, resides in New York City for 20 reveals the difficulties he faced with when he forced to
create classsical music pieces for public spaces and a solo instrument in a studio when there is no
possibility for orchestral asistance and rehearsals. It seems important to see how a classical music
which requires a room acoustics and performing together as an emsemble changed its direction in
line with a composer’s experiences about his insights and hinderances, showing us the power of the
imagination to create new forms to express itself.

Bir müzisyenin pandemideki deneyimlerini ilk elden dile getiren bu yazı, karantina koşullarında bir
sanatçının imgeleminin nasıl kesintiye uğradığını ve çalışma pratiğinin ne yönde değiştiğini
göstermektedir. Esas olarak New York Şehri’nde 20 yıldan beri klasik müzik bestecisi olan
Wollschleger’in, bir orkestra ve beraber çalışma deneyimininin mümkün olmadığı koşullarda, açık
alanlarda veya stüdyoda solo icra edilecek çalışmalar yazmak konusunda karşılaştığı güçlükleri
görünür kılmaktadır. Oda akustiği ve beraber performans gerektiren klasik müziğin yeni düzende ne
yönde değiştiğini görmek açısından bir bestecinin görüşlerini ve kısıtlılıklarını paylaşması, imgelemin
her yeni durumda ifadeyi seferber edecek bir biçim bulmaktaki maharetini bize göstermektedir.
