Diplomacy is the primary instrument to enable international actors, mainly states, to get into inter-action. Within this context, diplomacy is defined as one of the basic instruments of the foreign policy of the states in the literature and diplomacy characterizes the external interactions of states. Throughout time, with the developments in telecommunication and transportation technologies, the world has turned out to be an area within which the strategic rivalry has come to the forefront and with the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the dimension of threat has extended to a level that has increased the importance of peaceful diplomacy. Thus, one of the most important and successful forms of peaceful diplomacy is the coercive diplomacy. The success of the coercive diplomacy has been tested in Iranian nuclear crisis that ranked among the primary issues of the international community, since it could be resolved without a military and social damage. In line with the contribution of coercive diplomacy to peace and stability, the study focuses on Iranian nuclear crisis and coercive diplomacy. It is argued in the study that whatever is the degree of difficulty of an international crisis, peaceful and coercive diplomacy are the most effective and rational options for crisis management and the resolution of crises.
