Today, energy is seen as one of the most basic inputs in terms of economic growth. In this context energy has been recently become one of the most strategic sources for economies and international companies. In addition, the consumption of energy is one of the indicators that show the development level of socio-economic. Due to this increasing importance of energy, the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth has been the subject of many studies in the literature. From this point in this study, the effect of energy consumption on the economic growth in Turkey has been analyzed by Johansen cointegration test method using the data between 1971-2015. According to the empirical findings of the study, there was a negative and statistically significant relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in the long run. In other words, the increase in energy consumption in the long run decreases economic growth.

tüketiminin Türkiye’de ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkisi, 1971-2015 dönemi
verileri kullanılarak Johansen eşbütünleşme testi yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir.
Çalışmanın ampirik bulgularına göre uzun dönemde enerji tüketimi ile ekonomik
büyüme arasında negatif ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur.
Bir diğer ifadeyle uzun dönemde enerji tüketiminde meydana gelen artış ekonomik
büyümeyi azaltmaktadır.
