In this study, antibacterial and antifungal efficiencies of leaves, branches, and fruit extracts of three Ahlat species growing in Turkey [Pyrus anatolica Browicz (Som Ahlat) (endemic species), Pyrus elaeagnifolia Pall. subsp. elaeagnifolia (Ahlat), Pyrus amygdaliformis Vill. var. Amygdaliformis (Çöğür Ahlat)] were investigated. Agar well diffusion method was used for the determination of antimicrobial activity. All three Ahlat species in the study were found to exhibit both antifungal and antimicrobial effects; however, the endemic species, Pyrus anatolica demonstrated stronger antimicrobial capacity compared to other species. Therefore, it is believed that Pyrus anatolica extract could be used in food additive, medicine and health fields.
