The study focuses on religious and ideological identities and the influential factors in the formation processes of these identities in the province of Mardin. The comprehensive findings and results obtained show that the transformation in identity is in a continuum. In other words, identities are not static, they are in a state of construction throughout life. Identities; It is shaped under the influence of factors such as language, ideology, religious belief, age, gender, profession, place of residence, and institutions and actors such as family, educational institutions, political parties, non-governmental organizations and mass media. These factors are active together in the process of building identity, sometimes alone and sometimes by establishing relationships with each other. In the study, it is tried to determine the effects of factors such as belief, gender, education level, income level, age and place of residence in the formation of religious and ideological identities, taking into account the passivity of identities. In this way, it will be able to create a perspective on which factors can be effective in shaping the determined socioeconomic identities. After a theoretical background on religious and ideological identities, the data of the field research conducted for the people living in Mardin, which constitutes the research universe, was analyzed through SPSS software. In this context, a survey was conducted with 1609 participants over the age of 18 in Mardin. The surveys were conducted in June and July 2020 in the form of an applied field study. The general survey model was preferred in the study, and the relationship screening was applied through comparisons between independent and dependent variables or categorical (qualitative) variables. The findings obtained show that the identity formation of individuals in religious and ideological contexts in Mardin is shaped by the interaction of characteristics such as gender, education and income level, age, place of residence.
