Uṣur-ša-Ištar, son of Aššur-immittī, was one of the most
important individuals in the society of Old Assyrian traders who settled
down at Kültepe/Kaniš in the Assyrian Trade Colonies Period. Many
texts that help to illustrate the social, cultural, political and economic
life of the era from his archive which includes more than two thousand
texts have been published up to now. The text introduced here for the
first time also belongs to Uṣur-ša-Ištar’s archive. This document is
important because it includes many terms and some cuneiform signs
which occur for the first time in the Old Assyrian corpus. The aim and
the scope of its production are not clear. At first glance, it is thought to
be a list of commercial goods kept in a store or a house of a trader.
However, too many mistakes on calculations and some unique signs
appearing for the first time in the tablet make one think that it could be
a school text as well.
