The pandemic process has made inequalities evident in the field of education, as in many other fields. The gender factor has created an important dimension of inequality in education. During the pandemic process, education and daily life activities were carried out in-home or family life for approximately one and a half years. In the study, besides the problems experienced by the students in participating in online education during the pandemic process, the gender roles they undertake in their family structures and their future expectations were opened to question. While doing this, the study started from Pierre Bourdieu's concept of economic capital. The study was carried out with a semi-structured interview, one of the qualitative research techniques. The participants of the study were determined from Siirt University Sociology Department students through purposeful sampling. The study was carried out in the hybrid education process after a break of about one and a half years due to the pandemic. According to the results of the study, the increase or decrease in the economic capital of the students determines the responsibilities of the students in and out of the home. Throughout the distance education process, families expected both male and female students (depending on being older in the family) to adopt traditional gender roles. Male students work in a job that will generate income for the family; female students mostly have responsibilities arising from other members of the family, cleaning the house, preparing the meal, hosting the guest(s), and maintaining their livelihood activities. From these results, it can be said that both male and female students are at a disadvantage in terms of the problems created by distance education.
