There are three determining factors in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was established in 1979 after the Islamic Revolution. These factors have shaped Iran's policy in international developments. In the research, the attitude of Iran in the Second Karabakh War in the context of the Caucasus policy was examined through these three elements called nationalism, Islamism, and sectarianism. Iran's national and international approach to creating regional power in a structure governed by Islamic principles has drawn the reaction of both regional and Western states. Iran, which was under the grip, used three factors that were effective in policymaking, based on pragmatism, at the point of obtaining national gain. This situation led Iran to favor the Christians in the Christian-Muslim conflict and the Shiites in the Shiite-Sunni conflict. Iran, which sided with Armenia against Azerbaijan in the First Karabakh War, supported the Shiites against the Sunnis in the Gulf Countries, especially between 1980 and 81. In regional policy, Iran, which sees the Caucasus region as its natural sphere of influence, has produced policies to prevent the regional states from getting more robust. Within the reasons, it was seen that Iran abandoned its traditional attitude and exhibited a different perspective in the Second Karabakh War, and the source of the said dilemma was questioned. In the research, considering the official statements made by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the news from the field, Iran's policy towards the war was researched. It was questioned whether it made any changes in its regional policy. In the light of the collected data, it was seen that Iran changed its Caucasus policy by displaying a different attitude in the Second Karabakh War.
