Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM), which usually occurs suddenly and progress of illness is unpredictable, may be a triggering of a health crisis for the both mother and fetus. When pregnant women are hospitalized for PROM, the women and their families undergo additional stress that pregnant women usually experience within the dynamic of the maternal transition process. This stress condition that threat both mother’s and infant’s health-situation and not be able to have a normal pregnancy process effect negatively to typical maternal role transitions. The pregnant woman who has PPROM experiences both developmental, situational, and health / illness transition simultaneously. When a nurse care such a person, nurse should ensure to positive motherhood transition with knowledge-based nursing care and should plan her nursing care based on the patient’s psychical, psychological and spiritual wellness. This review article was prepared is to investigate to nursing care of patients with PPROM according to Meleis’ Transition Theory.
