Bahr-ı tavil is one of the poetry forms that its samples are occasionally seen in classical Turkish literature. Generally, the most important feature of bahr-ı tavils that the relationship between the lover and sweet is told is that the poetry and prose are written intricately and the selected expression is dominant. These poems which are written in the simpler language than the other poetry types and they are generally written in the sequential form of fe’ilatün tefile in the aruz prosody.
Ahmet Pasha wrote the first known sample of this poetry type in 15. century that the Ottoman poets preferred as a result of dissimilarity search. Many poets among the important poets especially such as Gelibolulu Ali, Birri, Fehim-i Kadim and Şeyh Galib wrote bahr-ı tavil in time. Kadri and Zuhuri who were the poets of 16. century are one of the poets who prefer this poetry type. Both of them that it is not possible to conclude from the certain predication about their life except from their century wrote bahr-ı tavil in the gazelle form and in the amorous style.
In this study a general evaluation was made on the bahr-ı tavils in classical Turkish literature, the translated texts were included with reference at the collection of poem to these poetries’ available single copy for the present as the form and content properties of Kadri and Zuhuri’s bahr-ı tavils were emphasized.
