The aim of this research is to reveal the general characteristics and research tendencies of the studies on mental toughness by content analysis with various criteria of the published postgraduate theses. Within the scope of this study, in which content analysis model was preferred, access was provided to a total of 46 national postgraduate theses registered in the National Thesis Center database of the Council of Higher Education. These were examined within the criteria; thesis type, publication year, university and department; research method, pattern, inventory and the notions associated with mental toughness. After the research, it was determined that the theses published on mental toughness were prepared in 29 different universities in total and generally (35%) in the department of Physical Education and Sports. Research findings pointing out that the highest number of theses were published in 2019; the correlational design was mostly (62%) preferred in the quantitative research method (94%); ‘The Sports Mental Toughness Questionnare’ which developed by Sheard, Golby, and Wersch (2009) was also used as a data collection tool at a high rate (91%). Finally, ‘emotional intelligence’ notion preference -associated with mental toughness- at a high rate (18.7%) is another finding of this research. As a result, it can be said that the positivist paradigm tradition is dominant in postgraduate thesis on mental toughness and quantitative research methods are mostly preferred in this approach.
