Piles can be advantageous for construction, mainly due to strength increasing properties in foundation soils. Piles are used to support the foundations of both new structures and existing structures suffering damage. Piles are widely used in active areas, where they may have to resist significant vertical and earthquake loads. Therefore, their behaviour under vertical and eartquake load should be of interest. In this study, behavior of piles under earthquake loads were investigated using Plaxis 2D Program which employes the finite element method. In the analyses, Kocaeli earthquake vibration was applied to a sand model consisting of four piles under a certain vertical load. The piles were subjected to the same earthquake load for two different situations, striped and non- striped. According to the results of the analysis, it was determined that the acceleration values of the striped piles are lower than the piles without striped.
