In this study, the turbulent flow over Mersin Dereyurt pond spillway are modelled numerically. The governing equations of flow over the spillway are solved numerically by ANSYS-Fluent based on finite volume method using Standard k-ε, Modified k-ω, Shear Stress Transport and Reynold Stress turbulence models. The volume of fluid (VOF) method is used to determine the free surface profile. The numerical results for the flow profile are compared with the standard step method and all the turbulent closure models used in the present study are found to be successful in determining free surface profile over the spillway and chute channel. However, Reynolds Stress Model is slightly more successful than the other turbulence models according to the quantitatively comparison using the mean square error index. In addition, the numerical distributions of velocity, pressure and turbulence intensity on the approach channel, spillway and chute channel are presented and the turbulent flow over the spillway was analyzed numerically.
