A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF THE LITERATURE ON URBAN AGRICULTURE

Öz

Urban agriculture includes agricultural activities in urban areas conducted at different scales and with different purposes. Pandemic, climate changes, external shocks to food security and concerns about feeding city population have led to increasing interest in the concept of urban agriculture. The current study is carried out to review international scientific literature on urban agriculture based on bibliometric information obtained from WOS Core Collection database. Data included bibliometric information of 2,225 articles published after 2000 in English in scholarly journals. VOS Viewer is used to analyze the data; time, country, author, keyword network, number of citations, country and author citation network are studied. Data analyses show a serious increase in the number of articles, especially after 2017, a majority of which geographically focusing on the USA, Canada, China and European countries. It is also found that the largest geographical cluster of the citation network is all around America while the keyword network highlights interdisiplinarity of the topic intersecting managarial and environmental sciences. The author citation network shows clusters around McClintock, Bueckert, and Rieradevall. This study provides a ground for novel studies by analyzing current situation of urban agriculture which, based on the theoretical perspectives of spatial organization of agricultural production as well as implementational policies, is highly significant.

KENTSEL TARIM LİTERATÜRÜ ÜZERİNE BİBLİYOMETRİK BİR ANALİZ

Öz

Kentsel tarım, farklı ölçek ve amaçları kapsayacak şekilde kentsel alanlarda yapılan tarımsal faaliyetleri kapsamaktadır. Pandemi, iklim değişiklikleri, gıda güvenliğine dönük dışsal şoklar ve kentlerin gıda ihtiyacına ilişkin artan kaygılar, kentsel tarım kavramına olan ilginin artışına neden olmuştur. Bu makalede, WOS Core Collection veri tabanından elde edilen bibliyometrik bilgilere dayanarak kentsel tarıma dair uluslararası bilimsel alan yazının bir taraması sunulmaktadır. Bibliyometrik veri, 2000 yılı sonrasında bilimsel dergilerde İngilizce yayınlanmış makalelerde konu bakımından yapılan taramada elde edilen 2.225 makalenin bilgisini içermektedir. Analizde VOS Viewer programı kullanılmış ve literatür zaman, ülke, yazar, anahtar kelime ağı, atıf sayısı, ülke ve yazar atıf ağı bakımından incelenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, coğrafi olarak en çok Amerika, Kanada, Çin ve Kıta Avrupası ülkelerine odaklanan makale sayısında özellikle 2017 sonrası ciddi bir artış yaşanmıştır. Atıf ağında en büyük kümelenmenin Amerika etrafında olduğu, anahtar kelime ağında çalışmaların disiplinler arası yapısını gösterir şekilde yönetim ve çevre bilimlerinden eşleşmeler olduğu ve yazar atıf ağında özellikle McClintock, Bueckert ve Rieradevall’in etrafındaki kümelenmelerin öne çıktığı görülmüştür. Bu makale, önümüzdeki yıllarda tarımsal üretimin mekânsal örgütlenişine dair teorik perspektifler ve uygulanacak politikalar açısından son derece önemli bir mecra olma potansiyeli taşıyan kentsel tarım literatürünün güncel durumunu ortaya koyarak yeni araştırmalar için bir zemin sunmuştur.
