Effects of Increased Mobile Phone Using on Human Health

Yıl 2021, Cilt: 4 Sayı: 2, 80 - 93, 30.12.2021

Öz

Mobile phones which were first used around 1980s for communication between people offer many functions such as taking photos and videos, video calling, accessing of e-mail and social media accounts besides installing various applications suitable for their interests. This functionality increases the time of cell phone usage in daily life, causing cell phone habit and addiction to increase at an alarming rate.
Mobile phones with low-frequency electromagnetic fields are possibly carcinogenic to humans, have become a vital part of our daily lives, used in various places as our homes, outsides, at work. Keeping mobile phones with our bodies mostly during talking mode near head and carrying mobile phones in trouser raises concerns about the possible effects of long-term exposure to radio frequency radiation on human health. In this study, we aimed to explain how mobile phone technology develops and the types of radiation, to draw attention the possible adverse health effects of mobile phones such as DNA damages, mutations and tumors from the genotoxic effects that may occur in humans, neurological effects, disorders in the immune and reproductive system resulting from radio frequency radiations originating from mobile phones, to compile the results obtained in the survey, animal and human experiments on this subject, and to evaluate the precautions that can reduce the cumulative effects of mobile phone exposure.

Artan Cep Telefonu Kullanımının İnsan Sağlığı Üzerine Etkileri

Yıl 2021, Cilt: 4 Sayı: 2, 80 - 93, 30.12.2021

İnsanların birbirine kolay erişimi amacıyla 1980’lerde kullanılmaya başlanan cep telefonları, gelişen teknolojiyle birlikte insanlara fotoğraf ve video çekme, görüntülü arama, sosyal medya ve e-posta hesaplarına erişim ve ilgi alanlarına uygun uygulamaların yüklenebilmesi gibi birçok kullanılabilir işlev sunmaktadır. Bu işlevsellik günlük hayatta cep telefonu kullanım süresini arttırarak cep telefonu alışkanlığının ve bağımlılığının endişe verici bir hızla artmasına neden olmaktadır.
İnsanlar için olası karsinojenik sınıfında yer alan düşük frekanslı elektromanyetik alana sahip cep telefonları, günlük hayatta evde, sokakta ve iş yerinde olmak üzere birçok ortamda kullanılarak hayatımızın ayrılmaz bir parçası haline gelmiştir. Cep telefonlarının vücutta özellikle konuşma esnasında baş bölgesine ve pantolon cebinde taşırken üreme organlarına yakınlığı radyo frekans radyasyonuna uzun süre maruz kalmanın insan sağlığına olası etkileri konusunda endişeleri giderek arttırmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, cep telefonu teknolojisinin nasıl geliştiği ve radyasyon türlerini açıklamak, cep telefonu kaynaklı radyo frekans radyasyonlarına maruz kalmaktan kaynaklanan insanlarda meydana gelebilecek genotoksik etkilerden DNA hasarları, mutasyonlar ve tümörler, nörolojik etkiler, bağışıklık ve üreme sisteminde meydana gelen bozukluklar gibi olası olumsuz sağlık etkilerine dikkat çekmek, bu konuda yapılan anket, hayvan ve insan deneylerinde elde edilen sonuçları derlemek ve cep telefonu radyasyonu maruziyetiyle oluşabilecek kümülatif etkileri azaltmak için alınabilecek önlemlerin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.
