Central bank digital currency system is a system in which digital money produced, managed, and controlled by the central bank is a substitute for paper money. This system can has some advantages and disadvantages from the paper money system. The main advantages of the system are; it can be an increase in seigniorage revenues, decrease in transaction costs, increase in transaction speed, decrease in the informal economy, decrease in tax losses, decrease in real interest rates, acceleration of economic development, and protection against pandemics. On the other hand, the system may have disadvantages such as cyber-attacks, speculative attacks, lack of trust, difficulties adapting to the system, insufficient infrastructure, lack of regulation and supervision, and price instability and currency substitution. The advantages of the system are more dominant, forcing countries to transition to digital money. China, Sweden, Thailand, Ukraine, Uruguay, and South Korea are the countries that make the pilot application in this regard. If the pilot applications are successful, the transition to digital money on a global scale may be accelerated in the near future.
