Aim: This study aims to determine the conceptsof children "success, failure, happiness, unhappiness and understanding others". Method: The qualitative research method was used in this study. Semi-structured interview form prepared by the researchers taking expert opinion was used as the data collection tool in the face-to-face interviews. Obtained data were analyzed using MAXQDA 12 qualitative data analysis program. Results: As a result of the analyses; 22% of the children answered the question about the perception of success using the statement "getting high scores on exams" in the pre-intermediate, while 40.7% of the students answered this question saying "being able to do something" in the final interview. 55.6% of the children described their perception of failure as "getting low scores on exams" in the pre-interview; in the final interview after reading the books, however, 26.9% of them answered this question saying that "failing at games" and 23.1% of them said "getting lower scores on exams". As for the happiness concept, 33.3% of the children described their perception of happiness as "my parents' buying the things I want" in the first interview, while 17.5% of them answered this question saying "my birthday's being celebrated" in the final interview. In terms of understanding others, 30% of the children used the statement "understanding what is said" in the pre-interview, while 46.4% of them responded to the same question saying "understanding others' thoughts and feelings in the final interview. Conclusions: It has been determined that children's books can change children's perspectives on the concept of success, failure, happiness and understanding others.
