Shear bond strength of orthodontic brackets and tubes bonded with new fluoride releasing adhesive systems

Öz

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to compare shear bond strengths (SBS) of two new fluoride-releasing bonding systems with a conventional bonding system.

MATERIALS AND METHOD: Fifty-one caries-free mandibular premolars and fifty-one mandibular molars were randomly divided into 3 groups of 17, and metal brackets and molar tubes were bonded. Group 1 (premolars) and Group 4 (molars) utilized conventional bonding with Transbond XT primer. The teeth in Group 2 (premolars) and Group 5 (molars) were bonded using Clearfil S3 Bond Plus. Group 3 (premolars) and Group 6 (molars) were bonded using Opal Seal Kit. A universal testing machine was used to determine the SBS. Adhesive remaining after debonding was also assessed.

RESULTS: Clearfil S3 Bond Plus demonstrated significantly greater SBS values than Transbond XT and Opal Seal Kit (p=0.014 and p=0.009, respectively) in premolars. For molars, Opal Seal Kit yielded the lowest SBS values among all tested adhesive systems (p<0.01). Kruskal-Wallis test showed no significant differences in the Adhesive Remnant Index (ARI) scores (χ2 = 6.92, p=0.23).

CONCLUSION: All adhesives exhibited adequate SBS values, but molar tubes bonded with Opal Seal exhibited lower SBS values than those obtained for the conventional bonding system and Clearfil S3 Bond Plus. According to the findings of the study, Clearfil S3 Bond Plus could be of greater advantage due to its greater bond strength.

Flor salan adeziv sistemler kullanılarak yapıştırılan ortodontik braket ve tüplerin bağlanma kuvvetlerinin incelenmesi

Öz

AMAÇ: Bu çalışmanın amacı flor salan iki yeni ortodontik yapıştırıcının ve geleneksel bir yapıştırıcının bağlanma kuvvetlerinin karşılaştırılmasıdır.

GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: 51 adet çürüksüz alt küçük azı ve 51 adet çürüksüz alt büyük azı, 17’şer dişlik 3 grup oluşturacak şekilde rastgele bölünmüş ve braket ve tüpler yapıştırılmıştır. Grup 1 (küçük azı) ve Grup 4 (büyük azı) geleneksel olarak Transbond XT primer ile yapıştırılmıştır. Grup 2 (küçük azı) ve Grup 5 (büyük azı) Clearfil S3 Bond Plus ile yapıştırılmıştır. Grup 3 (küçük azı) ve Grup 6 (büyük azı) ise Opal Seal Kit kullanılarak yapıştırılmıştır. Bağlanma kuvvet değerleri, bilgisayar destekli universal test cihazı ile ölçülmüş ve artık adeziv miktarı değerlendirilmiştir.

BULGULAR: Küçük azı grubunda Clearfil S3 Bond Plus, Transbond XT ve Opal Seal Kit’ten daha yüksek bağlanma kuvveti göstermiştir (sırasıyla p = 0.014 ve p = 0.009). Büyük azılar için ise Opal Seal Kit önemli düzeyde daha düşük bağlanma kuvveti göstermiştir (p<0.01). KruskalWallis testi, Artık Adeziv İndeksi (AAİ) skorlarında fark göstermemiştir (χ2 = 6.92, p = 0.23).

SONUÇ: Bütün yapıştırıcılar yeterli bağlanma kuvvetini sağlamıştır; fakat Opal Seal Kit ile yapıştırılan büyük azılar daha düşük bağlanma kuvveti göstermiştir. Clearfil S3 Bond Plus grupları ise en yüksek bağlanma değerlerine sahiptirler.
