Exploring Nursing Students' Perceptions, Expectations, and Concerns Regarding Using Artificial Intelligence in Psychiatric Nursing: A Qualitative Study.

Öz

Artificial intelligence is increasingly important in psychiatric nursing. Nursing students must be knowledgeable in this area. This study aimed to understand nursing students' perceptions, expectations, and concerns regarding artificial intelligence in psychiatric nursing. Qualitative research design with content analysis was employed. The study was conducted with university students in a city in the Central Black Sea region, involving semi-structured interviews with 19 nursing students. Data were analyzed using Colaizzi's 7-step content analysis method. The research adhered to COREQ criteria. Three main themes emerged from the analysis: 1. Perceptions and Dilemmas about Artificial Intelligence, 2. Expectations Regarding Artificial Intelligence, and 3. Concerns Regarding Artificial Intelligence. According to the findings, students generally have a positive perception of artificial intelligence but hold different expectations and harbor ethical and privacy concerns. The study provided an in-depth understanding of how artificial intelligence is perceived in psychiatric nursing and offered important insights that can guide future education and practice. Addressing ethical and privacy concerns related to using artificial intelligence in psychiatric nursing is crucial. Therefore, emphasizing artificial intelligence ethical guidelines in nursing education and promoting a conscientious approach among students are essential.

Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Psikiyatri Hemşireliğinde Yapay Zekâ Kullanımına Yönelik Algı, Beklenti Ve Endişelerinin Derinlemesine İncelenmesi: Nitel Çalışma

Öz

Yapay zeka, psikiyatri hemşireliği alanında giderek artan bir öneme sahiptir. Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin bu konuda bilgi sahibi olmaları önemlidir. Bu araştırma, psikiyatri hemşireliğinde yapay zeka konusunda hemşirelik öğrencilerinin algılarını, beklentilerini ve endişelerini anlamak amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada yöntem olarak nitel araştırma desenlerinden içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma, Orta Karadeniz bölgesinde yer alan bir şehirdeki üniversite öğrencileri ile yürütülmüştür. 19 hemşirelik öğrencisi ile yarı yapılandırılmış mülakatlar yapılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, Colaizzi'nin 7 aşamalı içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma planı, COREQ kriterleri esas alınarak yürütülmüştür. Analiz sonucunda üç ana tema ortaya çıkmıştır: 1. Yapay Zekaya Yönelik Algılar ve İkilemler, 2. Yapay Zekaya Yönelik Beklentiler 3. Yapay Zekaya Yönelik Endişeler. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, öğrencilerin genel olarak yapay zekâ konusunda olumlu bir algıya sahip oldukları, yapay zeka konusunda farklı beklentilerinin olduğu ancak aynı zamanda bazı etik ve mahremiyet endişeleri taşıdıkları görülmüştür. Araştırma, yapay zekanın psikiyatri hemşireliği alanında nasıl algılandığına dair derinlemesine bir anlayış sağlamış ve gelecekteki eğitim ve uygulama alanlarında rehberlik sağlayabilecek önemli bulgular sunmuştur. Yapay zeka kullanımının psikiyatri hemşireliğindeki etik ve mahremiyet endişeleriyle birlikte ele alınması önemlidir. Bu nedenle, hemşirelik eğitiminde yapay zeka etik kurallarının vurgulanması ve öğrencilere bilinçli bir şekilde yaklaşımı teşvik etmek gerekmektedir.
