Humans try to adapt biologically to the environment in which they live. In order to provide comfort in their lives and practicality in their applications, people have created various methods. They have made their lives easier by developing some remedies according to the environment they live in. They made hide-like weavings by imitating the fur of animals they saw around them. Woven as an imitation of animal hide, ryijy carpets have protected Scandinavian people from the cold for thousands of years. These carpets woven in Scandinavian countries, tulu, geve, hopan woven in Anatolia, gabbeh weaves woven in Iran; are woven in the same or similar technique. Ryijy carpets, which have been woven in Scandinavian countries are considered the "national fabric" of Finnish culture. 8.-9. ryijy carpets, which are thought to have been brought to Scandinavia by the Vikings on long expeditions in the centuries, have become a tradition in daily life over time. Daily life, wedding tradition, dowry has taken its place in traditional life. At the beginning of the 20th century, the artistic value of ryijy carpets increased, thanks to the design of new ryijy carpets by artists and designers. Thanks to this tradition and art movement, Finnish artists have made a name for themselves in international competitions.
