The Kipchaks, who exist in the Eurasian strip extending from the foothills of the Altai Mountains in the east to the Carpathian Mountains in the west and are known as Desht - i Kipchaks/ Poloves, Kuman-Kipchaks, Kipchak/Atabeks, as mentioned in Islamic and Russian sources of the early II. millennium B.C. Various studies on economic structures have been made and presented to the attention of the readers. However, independent studies on the pre-Islamic and post-Islamic religious and sectarian identity of the Kipchaks, who spread over a wide geography, remained shallow. The reason for this is that the subjects related to the religious history of the Turks are discussed in the studies titled History of Religions and History of Turkish Religion. While giving general information about the beliefs and religions of the Turks in the studies, the religious-sectarian issue was evaluated in the form of short titles or paragraphs. For this reason, in our study, the interaction processes of Kipchaks, who exist in different geographies, with different cultures and religions will be examined. In this study, it will be tried to clarify how the religious-sectarian identities of the Kipchaks are shaped by making use of the works in different languages about the Kipchaks. In addition, care will be taken to gather scattered information about the religious-cultural identities of the Kipchaks in the sources. Thus, efforts will be made to determine/eliminate/detect the religious sectarian identities of the Kipchaks in their geographies.
