Agriculture is one
of the locomotive sectors of the world and Turkey's economy because of the
basic needs of the people, the provision of raw materials for industry, the
contribution it provides to employment and its direct and indirect contribution
to exports. In Şanlıurfa, which is one of the important agricultural basins of
Turkey, within the borders of GAP, agriculture is carried out in 1.014.279
hectares’ area and 16,34% of this is realized in Harran Plain. The subject of
the study is irrigated with GAP irrigation in the area of 165.800 hectares in
the Harran Plain and in the area of 10.711,1 hectares, which is not reached by
this irrigation, agriculture is provided by waters supplied from underground water
wells. In this study, the economic analysis of water use in agriculture was
made. It is possible to obtain values close to each other with 1m3
of water in cotton cultivation made with both irrigation sources. However,
although this is not the case in the production of second product corn and
cereal, the second product corn and cereal agriculture take negative values
made with underground water wells.
