Using the panel data, this study was conducted to analyse the impact of energy
consumption on carbon dioxide emissions for low-income, middle-income and high-income
countries from 1971 to 2011. The results indicate that there is a long-run equilibrium relationship
between variables for middle-income and high-income countries. Additionally, causality running
from energy consumption to carbon dioxide emissions was observed for these countries. Parameter
estimations show that the energy elasticity of carbon dioxide emissions in middle-income countires
is higher than that of high-income countries. These empirical findings present some important
policy implications.

Parametre
tahminleri, karbon dioksit salınımının enerji elastikiyetinin orta gelirli ülke grubunda yüksek gelirli
ülke grubuna göre daha yüksek olduğunu kanıtlamaktadır. Söz konusu ampirik bulgular, önemli
politika çıkarımları sunmaktadır.
