In the current education system, children who require special education and children with normal development are educated in the same environment. Normal developing children’s views about children with special needs are affected by their parents. The aim of the present study is to determine whether there is a difference between the views about special education and metaphors of the parents of children with special needs and the parents of normal developing children. The study sample is constituted of a total of 45 parents including, the parents of 22 children with special needs and the parents of 23 children with normal development. In the study, the data have been collected with a semi-structured interview form. When the study findings are evaluated in general, it has been determined that the metaphors used by the parents of children with special needs included negative concepts as distress, grind, difficulty, while the metaphors used by the parents of children with normal development included positive concepts such as flowers, peace and happiness.
