A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS ON FOAM ROLLER USAGE FOR DELAYED ONSET MUSCLE SORENESS

Yıl 2023, Cilt: 10 Sayı: 3, 16 - 36, 16.01.2024

The number of studies examining the effects of self-myofascial release techniques with foam rollers (SMR-FR) on the alleviation of delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is increasing day by day. As the number of studies on a specific topic increases, researchers and publishing entities may find it challenging to grasp the overall landscape of the field. However, understanding the broader perspective that can emerge from the big picture may be effective in formulating research, publication, institutional, or career strategies. In this context, the aim of this research is to shed light on future investigations by conducting a bibliometric analysis of scientific studies investigating the effects of SMR-FR applications on DOMS alleviation. This analysis seeks to comprehend significant trends, publications, and researchers within the discipline, thereby illustrating the evolution of this field. This study was conducted using the bibliometric review technique within the scope of document analysis. Research documents were obtained by searching the Web of Science database based on predefined criteria, resulting in the inclusion of 35 articles. The VOSviewer (version1.6.17) software tool was employed for the analysis of the obtained documents. The analysis identified the authors, organisations, countries, journals and articles with the highest number of both publications and citations, as well as the most used keywords and the most used words in abstracts on the elimination of DOMS through SMR-FR applications. As a result of this research, it has been concluded that organizations, journals, and researchers from various countries around the world have made significant contributions to this field.

Gecikmeli kas ağrılarının (DOMS) giderilmesinde köpük silindir ile kendi kendine miyofasyal gevşeme (KS-KKMG) tekniğinin etkilerinin incelendiği çalışma sayısı her geçen gün artmaktadır.
