Crime and punishment have existed since the beginning of humanity and will continue to be. The subjects of systematic integration and discipline efforts of today's penal law have been intensely brought to the agenda after the historical period called enlightenment. These efforts have started to yield results since the 19th century. The close relationship of the criminal law science, which stands out with its normative aspect, with the social sciences in the 20th century has led to the development and expansion of this field. The ability to learn and teach the legal and scientific knowledge of crime and its correspondent punishment undoubtedly requires the recognition of different disciplines that are related with these concepts. While the perspective, principles and methods of examination of these disciplines are different and independent from each other, their development depends on their relationship with each other. This study aims to classify and systemize the comprehensive bundle of information generated by the basic concepts of crime and punishment in legal science. The general picture presented with the article also looks for answers to the question of whether a holistic approach is possible in the sciences of criminal and penal law.
