With the amendments made in the legislation on labor law in
recent years, a number of arrangements for working mothers have been brought to
work life. One of these new regulations, the second paragraph of Article 74 of
the Labor Law No. 4857 is added by Law
No. 6663. Women workers who give birth have been given the right of free leave
for half of the weekly working time with the arrangement. This right is legally
granted to male or female workers who adopted a three-year-old child. This
provision aims to create an environment that let workers keep their job and
also take care their children. In practice, it is expressed as part time
employment permit. In the event of legal conditions, the employee who uses half
work permit, regardless of the employer's acceptance, will also affect the
working order of the employer in the workplace, except for a certain period.
The provisions in the legislation are not sufficient to eliminate any
hesitations in the application of the right to leave. Therefore, the provisions
on the part time employment permit must be clearly revised.
