Öz

İslâm tarihinin Hz. Muhammed ve Râşit halifeler dönemleri, Medine merkezli ve benzer özellikli dönemlerdir. Ali b. Ebû Tâlip ile girdiği hilâfet mücadelesinin sonunda Muâviye b. Ebû Süfyân’ın Emevî Devleti’ni kurması ve başkent olarak da Şam’ı seçmesiyle birlikte yeni bir dönem başlamış ve reel-politiğin de etkisiyle birlikte Hıristiyan unsurlarla ilişkinin seyri değişmiştir. Bu bağlamda Emevî yönetimi, iç muhalefete karşı desteğine ihtiyaç duyduğu Hıristiyanlara karşı toleranslı bir tavır sergilemiş ve bunun neticesinde hayatın değişik alanlarında karşılıklı bir etkileşim görülmeye başlamıştır. Bu makalede, özellikle, Hıristiyanların Emevîler dönemindeki İslâm toplumuna etkileri, farklı boyutlarıyla birlikte ele alınmaktadır.

The Effects of Christians on the Islamic Society in the Umayyed Period

Öz

The periods of Prophet Muhammad and Four Caliphs in Islamic history are the terms of similar features and Medina-centric. With Muawiya b. Abu Sufyan’s establishing the Umayyad Caliphate at the end of the struggle with Ali b. Ebu Talib for caliphate and with the election of Damascus as the Capital, a new term started and the course of the relationship with the Christian elements has changed with the impact of real-politics. In this context the Umayyads took a more tolerant stand for Christians. Because the Umayyads were in need of the Christians’ support against the inner opposition. As a result of this, mutual interaction has started to appear in the different fields of life. In this article, we will discuss especially the effects of Christians on Islamic Society in Umayyad Era with different aspects.
