Bosnia-Herzegovina is one of the “frontier” regions of Ottoman Empire. The Islamization is still phenomenal situation because there is no any Turkish settlement during this period but Turkish cultural effect is very strong interestingly in this region. The aim of this article is to specify the features of tombstones of Bosnia-Herzegovina produced during the 15-16th centuries. These tombstones are called as Nişan which means “sign” in Turkish language. First scientific searches about tombstones were made by Şefik Beşlagiç and Mehmed Mujevinoviç. This article firstly analyses the relationship between the „steçaks‟ and Ottoman tombstones according to Ş. Beşlagiç and M. Mujezinoviç works and then, classifies nişans produced in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
