Sfenoid Sinüs Agenezisi ve Hipoplazisinin Konik Işınlı Bilgisayarlı Tomografi ile Tespiti: Retrospektif Bir Çalışma

Öz

Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı sfenoid sinüste görülen hipoplazi ve agenezi varlığı ve sıklığının konik ışınlı bilgisayarlı tomografi ile değerlendirilmesidir.
Yöntem: Kliniğimizde Aralık 2015-Ocak 2018 tarihleri arasında alınan ve sfenoid sinüsün görüntüleme alanına girdiği konik ışınlı bilgisayarlı tomografi görüntüleri retrospektif olarak taranmıştır. 18-86 yaş aralığındaki 131 kadın ve 119 erkek olmak üzere toplam 250 hastaya ait görüntüler çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir.
Bulgular: Sağ sfenoid sinüs hipoplazisi 17 hastada (%6,8), sol sfenoid sinüs hipoplazisi de 17 hastada (%6,8) görülmüştür. Sfenoid sinüs agenezisi ise 2 hastada (%0,8) tespit edilmiştir. Sfenoid sinüs hipoplazisi ve agenezisi ile cinsiyet arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunamamıştır.
Sonuç: Transnazal-transsfenoidal hipofizektomi operasyonlarının planlanmasında sfenoid sinüsün varyasyonlarının 3 boyutlu olarak değerlendirilmesi önemli olup ameliyat öncesi kemik yapıdaki anatomik varyasyonların değerlendirilmesinde bilgisayarlı tomografi ve konik ışınlı bilgisayarlı tomografi kullanımı tavsiye edilmektedir.

Detection of Sphenoid Sinus Agenesis and Hypoplasia by Cone-Beam Computed Tomography: A Retrospective Study

Öz

Objective: The aim of the study is to evaluate the presence and frequency of sphenoid sinus hypoplasia and agenesis by using cone-beam computed tomography.
Methods: The cone-beam computed tomography images of our clinic taken between December 2015-January 2018 were retrospectively scanned, and the images where the field of view involved the sphenoid sinus were included in the study. The images of 250 patients including 131 females and 119 males between the ages of 18-86 were included in the study.
Results: Right sphenoid sinus hypoplasia was seen in 17 patients (6.8%) and left sphenoid sinus hypoplasia was seen in 17 patients (6.8%). Sphenoid sinus agenesis was detected in 2 patients (0.8%). No statistically significant relationship was found between sphenoid sinus hypoplasia and agenesis, and gender.
Conclusion: Three-dimensional evaluation of the variations of the sphenoid sinus is important for transnasal - transsphenoidal hypophysectomy operations. In this regard, the use of computed tomography and cone beam computed tomography is recommended.
