THE ANALYSIS OF THE FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF THE AUTOMOTIVE COMPANIES LISTED BEST WITH RESPECT TO INDUSTRY 4.0 AND COVID-19 WITH COPRAS METHOD

Öz

Industry 4.0 has been the last step of the industrial revolution around the world, which envisages a low-cost manufacturing process with high productivity. COVID-19 outbreak, on the other hand, has been labelled as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) which has brought production to a sudden standstill and resulted in financial loss and bankruptcies all around the world. Therefore, the aim of the current study is to investigate the extent to which the financial performance of the automotive sector is affected by the Industry 4.0 revolution and the COVID-19 pandemic. For that purpose, a content analysis is used to review the activity reports of automotive companies trading in BIST and operating in Turkey between 2014-2020 with respect to Industry 4.0 and COVID-19 and COPRAS, a multiple-criteria decision making model, is used to analyze the financial data for the same period. The results revealed that a greater part of the automotive companies trading in BIST has not employed the requirements of the Industry 4.0 and made use of Industry 4.0 in their financial performances. The results also showed that the COVID-19 pandemic has a negative impact on the financial performance of the automotive sector.

BIST OTOMOTİV SEKTÖRÜNDE LİSTELENEN ŞİRKETLERİN FİNANSAL PERFORMANSLARININ ENDÜSTRİ 4.0 VE COVID 19 KAPSAMINDA COPRAS YÖNTEMİ İLE ANALİZİ

Öz

Endüstri 4.0, dünyada sanayi devriminin geçirdiği son evre olarak ifade edilmektedir. Endüstri 4.0 devrimi ile birlikte, tüm sektörlerde üretim süreçlerinde düşük maliyet ve yüksek verimlilik öngörülmektedir. COVID-19 salgını ise; Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (WHO) tarafından pandemi olarak ilan edilen, dünya çapında alınan kısıtlama kararları ile dünya genelinde üretimin durma noktasına geldiği, bir çok işletmenin zarar ettiği ve iflasların açıklandığı bir süreç olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. İşte bu noktada çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’de otomotiv sektörünün finansal performansının, endüstri 4.0 devriminden ve dünya çapında yaşanan COVID-19 salgınından ne ölçüde etkilendiğinin tespit edilmesidir. Bu amaçla çalışmada, Türkiye’de faaliyet gösteren ve BİST’te işlem gören otomotiv şirketlerinin, 2014-2020 yıllarına ait faaliyet raporları Endüstri 4.0 ve COVID-19 kapsamında içerik analizine tabi tutulmuş; aynı dönemlere ilişkin finansal verileri ise, Çok Kriterli Karar Verme (ÇKKV) yöntemlerinden COPRAS yöntemi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, dünyada yaşanan Endüstri 4.0 devrimini BIST otomotiv firmalarının büyük bir bölümünün gerçekleştiremediği ve finansal performanslarına yansıtamadığı; COVID-19 salgınının ise, otomotiv sektörü finansal performansı üzerinde olumsuz etkisi olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
