The research paper aims to uncover metaphoric perceptions of teacher candidates for school managers they will work together. A qualitative research was carried out for this purpose. An interview form including two questions was prepared for the study. The questions are the following ones: "1- If you were asked to liken a school manager to a living or non-living thing metaphorically, what would it be?" "2- Could you please explain your reasons?" The data of the research was collected from the fourth class students studying in RecepTayyipErdoğan University, Education Faculty in 2013-2014 academic year. The data was analyzed by content analysis technique. Teacher candidates mostly associated school managers with the metaphors of "father, mother, lion, dictator, shepherd." As a result of the research, it was found out that teacher candidates mostly described school managers by taking "managing, leadership, power, negativity and protection" aspects into consideration. They described school principals as managers having technicalknowledge, leaders affecting groups, power element having legitimate authority. As a consequence, it was found out that the point of view of teacher candidates on school managers is positive
Özet
Bu araştırma ile öğretmen adaylarının beraber çalışacakları okul müdürleri hakkındaki metaforik algılarının ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla nitel bir araştırma olarak düzenlenmiştir. Çalışma için iki sorudan oluşan bir görüşme formu düzenlenmiştir. Bu sorular: “1- Okul müdürünü canlı veya cansız bir varlığa, bir nesneye ya da herhangi bir şeye benzetmeniz istense mecazi olarak neye benzetirsiniz? 2- Bu benzetmenizin nedenlerini, açıklar mısınız?” dır. Bu araştırmanın verileri 2013-2014 eğitim öğretim yılında Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde öğrenim gören 4. sınıf öğrencilerinden toplanmıştır. Araştırma içerik analizi yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının okul müdürünü en çok “Baba, Aslan Anne, Diktatör, Çoban” metaforları ile ifade etmişlerdir. Analiz sonucunda öğretmen adaylarının okul müdürlerini en çok “Yöneticilik, Liderlik, Güç, Olumsuzluk ve Koruma” yönleri ile tanımlamışlardır. Okul müdürlerini Teknik bilgilere sahip bir yönetici, Grubunu etkileyebilen bir lider, yasal yetkilerinden dolayı güç unsuru olan birisi olarak tanımlamışlardır. Genel sonuç olarak öğretmen adaylarının müdürler ile ilgili düşünceleri %90 oranında olumlu olduğu görülmüştür.
