Öz

Geçmişi Antik Yunan dönemine kadar uzanan opera sanatının sahnelendiği yapılar, farklı dönemlerde yapıldıkları kentlerin kültür ve sanat düzeyleriyle bağdaşan şekilde kentleri temsil eden simgeler durumunda olmuşlardır. 19. yüzyıl tiyatro ve sanat mimarisinin ana parçası olan Charles Garnier Opera Binası zamanının en önemli şaheserlerinden biri olarak atfedilmiş, günümüzde de sanatsal işlevinin yanı sıra bir anıt olarak bulunduğu kente gelen ziyaretçilere ev sahipliği yapmaktadır.

Çalışmada, Charles Garnier Opera Binası’nın kentteki konumu ve kent ulaşım sistemiyle ilişkisi, bina ölçeğinde ise biçimsel ve işlevsel özellikleri üzerinden kentteki yeri ve öneminin tartışılması amaçlanmıştır. Binaya ait ölçüler mimari çizimler üzerinden orantılanarak hesaplanmıştır. Çalışmada tarama ve görsel analiz tekniği birlikte kullanılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda elde edilen verilerle, Charles Garnier Opera Binası’nın konumu, yakın çevresiyle kurduğu ilişkisinin yanı sıra binanın tasarımı, yapım tekniği, malzemesi açısından da optimum düzeyde olup olmaması değerlendirilmiştir.

Charles Garnier Opera House, one of the Symbols of the City of Paris

Öz

The buildings where opera art, which dates back to the Ancient Greek period, were staged, have become symbols representing cities in accordance with the cultural and artistic levels of the cities where they were built in different periods. Charles Garnier Opera House, which is the main part of 19th century theater and art architecture, was attributed to one of the most important masterpieces of its time, and today it hosts visitors to the city where it is located as a monument as well as its artistic function.

In this study, it is aimed to discuss the location and importance of Charles Garnier Opera House in the city through its location in the city and its relationship with the urban transportation system, and its formal and functional features in building scale. The dimensions of the building are calculated by proportioning the architectural drawings. Scanning and visual analysis techniques were used together in the study. With the data obtained as a result of the study, the location of the Charles Garnier Opera House, its relationship with its immediate surroundings, as well as the optimum level of design, construction technique and material of the building were evaluated.
