Family businesses increase their significance in every country around the world with their contribution to national income and employment opportunities. High economic performance and sustainability of family businesses play a critical role in all world economies for this reason. Family businesses ensure their sustainability through the existence of ownership thanks to knowledge, skills and experience transferred from generation to generation. The rates of handing over family businesses to future generations from the founder decrease day by day. In this context, researching factors that affect the sustainability of family businesses should be considered as a vital requirement. The main purpose of this research, which has been prepared based on this requirement, is to determine whether there is a meaningful relationship between dynamics by revealing the success and failure dynamics that affect the sustainability of family businesses. The research was designed as a qualitative study, the comparative case study was chosen as the research model and the embedded multiple case pattern was chosen as the research design. In this context, ten enterprises were analyzed, and in- depth interviews were conducted with fourteen family members under the management of these enterprises. In the research, the separation of family and business system, protection and management of family capital, institutionalization and modernity and innovation were determined as the most essential dynamics for sustainability.
