Abstract
Halûk Nurbaki (1924-1997) is a medical doctor and writer. He is known in Turkey for his interpretation of the Qur’an in more scientific data. He has interpreted many surahs and verses by combining his sc1ientific acquis and sufi culture. In this context he sometimes offered interesting comments. Using the word “commentary” instead of the word “exegesis”, Nurbaki, admits that there are a number of principles concerning the translation and interpretation of verses. According to him, the healthiest interpretation of the Qur’an is that it is made with verses, verses, hadiths, or the words of the Companions. The Arabic language is also an important resource. But in the interpretations of some verses, these sources may not be sufficient. At this point, scientific advances are the most brilliant way to interpret the verses. However, Nurbaki’s commentations of the Qur’an, it is possible to see some weaknesses similar to other commentations that interpret the Qur’an with scientific data Here in this article, Nurbaki’s scientific commentations of the Qur’an are discussed from various perspectives.

Structured Abstract: Halûk Nurbaki (1924-1997) is a medical doctor and author. He is better known in Turkey for his interpretation of the Qur’an with scientific data. However, he has occasionally achieved interesting interpretations by combining scientific data and Sufi enthusiasm in his works, which include interpretation of the Qur’an. Nurbaki probably consciously uses the word interpretation instead of the word commentary. It can be said that Nurbaki devoted a lot of time to his works on the interpretation of the Qur’an. As a matter of fact, he says that he completed his works called the Namaz Sûreleri Yorumu and Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’den Âyetler ve İlmî Gerçekler in four years. His works were very popular with readers, and he was asked to interpret other surahs. On this occasion, he began to interpret the surahs and verse. According to him, the Qur’an is a book of passwords that covers all the unknowns of the universe. The revelation of the Qur’an means explaining the secrets of the universe. Nurbaki, who describes the Qur’an as a book of passwords and secrets, sometimes states that some surahs and verses are difficult to understand. He also believes that some verses can only be understood by scientific advances. Because of the fact that Nurbaki gives sermons in addition to his writing, his language is generally in the style of preaching, conversation and advice. He always calls out to a reader in front of him. In his works, he sometimes makes compositions with technical words and uses some old Turkish words. Nurbaki benefited from the Quran, Hadith, scientific data, Sufism and some commentaries in his interpretations of the Qur’an. It is understood that Elmalılı in particular benefited from his translation of the Qur’an and commentary. Nurbaki references some Western scientists and scientific theories in his scientific interpretations. But it does not specify the resources that it has benefited from in general. It can be said that this damages the seriousness of his works and sometimes even gives them a fantastic image. According to him, scientific advances are the most brilliant way to interpret verses. Nurbaki states that it is not possible to solve the secrets emphasized by the verses with sloppy information. Despite this, he tries to explain some verses with theories. Nurbaki’s scientific interpretations range from physics, chemistry, biology, botany, geography, geolology, zoology, astronomy, medicine, mathematics, psychology, and social psychology. But here a question comes to mind: ‘is it possible to present such a wide range of information compared to the might of a human being? Nurbaki accepts the Big Bang. But according to him, The Theory of Evolution, space stories, primitive human tales made up by the of Sociology, etc. they are lies made up under the mask of science to destroy beliefs. It can be said that Nurbaki, like other scientific commentators, occasionally breaks the verse out of its context, does not make sufficient linguistic analyzes, does not give sufficient importance asbab al-nuzul. The reason for this is partly due to the lack of his exegetical expertise. Nurbaki’s commentations of the Qur’an have similar characteristics with other authors who interpret the Qur'an with scientific data.

İşte bu makalede Nurbaki’nin Kur’ân’a ilişkin bilimsel yorumları çeşitli açılardan ele alınmaktadır.
