Dezavantajlı gruplara dil öğretiminde açık ve uzaktan eğitim: Sistematik bir inceleme

Öz

Bu araştırma dezavantajlı gruplara İngilizce öğretimi üzerine gerçekleştirilen çalışmaların sistematik bir şekilde incelenmesi doğrultusunda söz konusu bireylere açık ve uzaktan eğitim yoluyla dil öğretimi üzerine literatürdeki eğilimlere ve eksikliklere dikkat çekmek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda nitel araştırma yaklaşımının sistematik alanyazın inceleme modeli uygulanmıştır. İlk olarak ilgili alanyazın ayrıntılı olarak taranarak, dezavantajlı grupların kimler olduğu ve dil öğretimi bağlamında dezavantajlı grupların özellikleri incelenmiştir. Ardından Yükseköğretim Kurulu Ulusal Tez Bankası’ndaki 1982 yılından Haziran 2023 tarihine kadar gerçekleştirilmiş yüksek lisans ve doktora tezleri arasından veri tabanının gelişmiş arama özelliği kullanılarak “dezavantajlı grup”, “dil öğretimi”, “EFL” ve “açık ve uzaktan eğitim” anahtar kelimeleri ve bunlarla ilişkili görülen “kapsayıcı eğitim” ve “açıköğretim” gibi kelimeler bir araya getirilip aramalar yapılmıştır. Bu aramalar tez adı, özet, konu ve dizin olmak üzere dört alanı kapsar şekilde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Aramalar sonucunda başlangıçta toplamda 1042 adet tez çalışması ile karşılaşılmıştır. Ancak, bu tezlerin özet kısımları ayrıntılı olarak incelendiğinde, dezavantajlı gruplara İngilizce öğretiminde açık ve uzaktan eğitim konusunda gerçekleştirilmiş hiçbir tez çalışmasının olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Bu sonuç ışığında, bu konuda neden hiç çalışmanın yapılmadığı ve bu konuda çalışmalar gerçekleştirmenin gerekliliği ve önemi alanyazın ışığında tartışılmıştır. Bu çalışma ile elde edilen bilgilerin, dil öğretimi özelinde, daha kapsayıcı, adil ve eşit bir eğitim sistemi oluşturma konusunda alanyazına katkı sağlaması beklenmektedir.
