Increasing focus on patient safety, quality of health care and improving health outcomes around the world has led
policy makers, stakeholders and health care providers to create standardized processes. Accreditation is defined
as an intervention that promotes patient safety and health care delivery at a high level. Despite the fact that
national accreditation studies have been started in our country since 2015, the first examples in the world are
based on 40-50 years ago. One of the first examples was the accreditation of health services in Australia in 1974.
This study provides information about the Australian Health Care Accreditation System in the light of observations
of Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care made during the 6 month period in 2016 in Sydney.
It is thought that the research results will be useful for health policy makers, health professionals, academicians
and students
