Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Biyoloji Bölümü lisans programları 2011–2012 eğitim öğretim yılında anlamlı şekilde tercihten düşmüştür. Bu olumsuzluğun gerekçelerini anlamak, sorgulamak ve çözüm önerilerinde bulunmak amacıyla bu çalışma aynı yıl bitirme ödevi olarak yapılmıştır. Çalışma, bir anket çalışması olup bölümdeki lisans öğrencilerine ve mezunlarına 15'er soru yöneltilmiştir. 8. Biyoloji Günü programı sebebiyle bölüme gelen diğer Üniversitelerin öğrencilerine de aynı anket uygulanmıştır. Alınan cevaplar yorumlanmış, istatistiksel analizler yapılmış, gözlem ve deneyimlerimizle bölümün sorunları ve çözüm önerileri ortaya konulmuştur. Bölümde öğretimin genelde ezber ağırlıklı olarak verilmesi, biyologların yetiştirilmesinde arz-talep dengesinin bozulması, mezunların istihdam sorunu bölüme tercihi düşüren ana faktördür. Orta öğretimde gün geçtikçe temel bilimler eğitimi zayıflamakta, sayısal öğrencileri azalmakta; bu durum öğrencileri lisansa yerleştirmede nitelikte zayıflama olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır. Tüm olumsuzluklara rağmen biyolojiyi severek tercih eden özverili insanların varlığı ve her kademede ülkemizin nitelikli biyologlara olan ihtiyacı açıkça ortadadır. Anket sonuçlarına göre; öğrenciler çoğunlukla bölümü bir ön araştırma yapmadan bilinçsizce tercih etmekte, zamanla bilinçlenerek bölümü sevmektedir. Sınıflardaki öğrenci sayısı fazlalığının eğitimi olumsuz etkilediği; müfredatta yer alan bazı derslerin yetersiz veya iş hayatında gerekli olmadığı ya da çoğunlukla ezber ağırlıklı olması nedeniyle derslerde gerektiği kadar aktif rol alamadıkları belirtilmektedir. Öğrencilerin istihdam yetersizliği nedeniyle gelecek endişesi taşıdıkları ve çevrelerine yaptıkları negatif telkinler bölüme adayların tercihini azaltmaktadır. Çözüm için sınıf mevcudunun fazla olmaması, müfredatın güncellenmesi, uygulamaların artırılması, stajın zorunlu hale getirilmesi ve öğretmenlik vb. haklarının iadesi önerilmektedir. İstihdam sadece biyolojinin değil, tüm temel bilimlerin ortak sorunudur. Sorun çözümlenmezse temel bilimlerin uygulamalı alanlarına da sıçrayacak ve tüm disiplinlerin ortak problemi haline gelecektir. Orman, ziraat, veterinerlik, eczacılık, su ürünleri fakülteleri; çevre ve gıda mühendisliği bölümleri bu alanlardan bazılarıdır. Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı ve YÖK Başkanlığı organizatörlüğünde tüm ilgili kurumların sorunun çözümüne katkı sağlayacağı uzun süreli planlamalar biran önce yapılmalı ve uygulanmalıdır. Mesleğe ilgi duyan herkes kendi çapında katkı sağlamak için insiyatif almalıdır.

EXPECTATIONS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS FROM BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT
ABSTRACT: Suleyman Demirel University, Department of Biology degree programs preference were significantly decreased in 2011–2012 academic years. In the same year, this study was conducted as a final project to understand, queryand in order to propose solutions, reasons for this negativity. In this study, a survey which were asked 15 questions to all students under graduate and some graduated from the department. Some students were come to the Isparta from Yüzüncü Yıl, Erzincan and Gaziantep Universities for the program of 8th Biology Day. The students were filled the survey form as other students. Answers of them were interpreted and statistical analysis was made and our department of problems and solution proposals are presented with our observation and experience. The main factors that reduce the choice of department; instruction is often given to mainly the memorization, imbalance of supply and demand of biologists up bringing and employment problem of the graduates. Basic science education are weakening by the day in secondary education, decreasing numeric students; this situation appears to be weakening quality placement of students underlicense. Despite all negativity, it is clear that the presence of dedicated persons who prefer loving biology and need for qualified biologists at all levels of Türkiye. According to the results of the survey; most of students weren't search before preference department of biology, by the time they love to become conscious. They reported that; high number of students are negative effect on education; their educations aren't enough for them, some of lessons which are in curriculum, are not necessary for their career and/or often, mainly due to the fact memorization as needed students often could not get an active role in courses. Choose the section decreased because students carry worrying about the future because of the lack of employment and their negative suggestions. For the solution, they proposed something; the class size is not more than, updating the curriculum, increasing the applications, internship must be compulsory, return the rights of the teaching, etc. Employment is not only biology's problem; this is a common problem of all the basic sciences. If the problem does not resolve, it jumps to all applied areas of basic sciences and will be come a common problem of all disciplines. Some of these are as; forestry, agriculture, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, fisheries departments, environment and food engineering departments. Organized by the Ministry of Education and the Council of Higher Education, all relevant agencies should be done and applied long-term planning as soon as possible to contribute to the solution of the problem. Anyone who is interested in the profession should take the initiative to make a contribution in its own right.
