İsveç Ticaret ve Seyr-i Sefain Antlaşması Modüs Vivendi Mersin Limanı Ereğli Limanı Demiryolu Türkiye Cumhuriyeti
The history of Turkish-Sweden relationships dates back to the 17th century. In the 18th and 19th centuries, many solidarity, commercial and defense treaties were signed between the two countries and thus healthy relationships were continued up to the 20th century. With the foundation of the Turkish Republic in this century, these relationships gained a new dimension under the direction of the principles of complete sovereignty, peace, respect to national independence and complete reciprocity.
Following the National Struggle, diplomatic relations were established between the two countries, and from 1924 onwards, Friendship and Modus Vivendi Treaties were signed and technical and commercial cooperation was initiated. In 1925, specialist and technical personnel were sent to Sweden for training; in 1927, Ereğli Port and railway, Fevzipaşa-Diyarbakır, Irmak-Filyos railway lines and Mersin Port construction bids were given to Swedish companies. Economic, political and commercial relations of the two countries increased rapidly following the signing of the Trade and Seyr-i Sefain Agreement on 4 February 1928. In the current study, the political, economic and technical cooperation dimensions of the relations between Turkey and Sweden in the early years of the Republic of Turkey will be examined.
