Turkish Music is (a piece of) music with rich content that has been influenced by Persian, Arabic and Western music. It is known that before Islam, Turks mostly benefited from poems in oral music. After the interaction with the rich Persian and Arabic literature, the oral forms of Turkish Music became more diverse. Since each of the forms is related to different aspects of literature, the forms of performance are also different from each other. Voice and instrument performers have to perform according to the style of this form (which was formed over time and became a tradition). The performer does not have the freedom to go out of style. However, the voice and instrument performer can easily apply his musical skills and unique musical characteristics (personal attitude) that he developed over time, without disturbing the style of the form, with ornamentation techniques. This difference does not spoil the style during the execution of the form, on the contrary, it adds richness. In this study, the concepts of style and attitude in Turkish Music was discussed. Some examples of ornamentation techniques that determine the attitude of the performer in Turkish music were given. A comparative analysis of the attitudes of 20th and 21st century voice performers Munir Nurettin Selçuk, Bekir Sıtkı Sezgin and Alaeddin Yavasca, in the form of the song “Severim her guzeli senden eserdir diyerek” was carried out. It was tried to determine the ornamentation techniques used by each performer on the musical note, line by line. The ornamentation techniques of the performers determined in each line were explained in the text. As a result of the study, it was seen that the three performers adhered to the song form style. In addition, it has been determined that the ornamentation techniques that are very similar to each other are applied in the same places as well as in the different ones.
The study is a qualitative study and scanning model was used. The universe of this study is the composition in the form of a song called “Severim her guzeli senden eserdir diyerek”, and its sample is the vocal performances of Munir Nurettin Selcuk, Bekir Sıtkı Sezgin and Alaeddin Yavasca.
