Öz
Bu çalışmada Mülkiye Mektebi Mezunu, Tatbikat Mektebi Müdürü, Millî Eğitim Bakanı Müsteşarı, eğitim bilimci İhsan Sungu’nun hayatından, Türk eğitimine, tarih araştırmalarına ve tarih öğretimine katkılarından söz edilmektedir. Sungu, eğitim konularında çağdaşı Batılı eğitimcilerin çalışmalarını takip ederek, yayım ve çevirileri ile progresif akıma mensup olduğunu gösterdi ve aktif okul yaklaşımını Türkiye’de yaymaya çalıştı. Sungu, Sâtı Bey’in öncülüğünde çağdaş anlamıyla tarih pedagojisi ile uğraşan ilk eğitimcilerimizdendir.

In this study, İhsan Sungu, an educator graduating from the School of Political Sciences, the director of the School of Maneuvers, and the Undersecretary for the Minister of National Education, his life-story, his contributions to Turkish education, research into history and the teaching of history are presented. He examined the works of his contemporary western educators and as a follower of the progressive school he made a great effort to promote the approach of active school across Turkey through his writings and translation studies. Under the leadership of Sati Bey, an Ottoman educator, he is one of the first educators to be engaged in history pedagogy in modern sense in Turkey.
