In this study, in the context of fakru’d-dem, the words related to blood deficiency and anemia in Turkish were included and the synonymous of fakru’d-dem were introduced. The aim of the subject is to determine the terms of blood deficiency in Turkish texts, to determine the periods in which they are used, to determine the changes in terms, and to contribute to the processes that affect the terms of both Turkish medicine and the word history and the formation of synonyms.
The limitations of the study vary according to the term, text type and term. The text type is Turkish medical texts written during that period. The term is the term fakru’d-dem and its synonyms for the lack of blood, anemia. The period is Western Turkish. This period was limited to the 14th and 20th centuries. 19 works written in this process were selected to collect the data of the study. These texts also constitute the material of the study.
These words (ḳan az olmaḳ; ḳan az olup bedene vefÀ itme-; kıllet-i dem; taḳlìl-i dem ol-; ḳanları u rÿóları az ol-; faḳru’d-dem ve faḳīrü’d-dem) are used for anemia in medical texts. Except for the 20th century, the use of the words faḳru’d-dem and faḳīrü’d-dem was not observed. As it can be seen, in earlier centuries, kan azlıgı, kıllet-i dem are expressed in anemia. These words appear to have been replaced by faḳr or faḳìr in the 20th century.
The terms related to anemia in Turkish are examined here with a limited number of texts. When the number of Turkish medical texts is considered, this sample will be seen to be very small. It should be noted that the final results will be derived from all texts.
