The purpose of this study was to conduct a validity and reliability study of the Positional Competition in Sports Scale which was developed by Harenberg Harenberg, Riemer, Dorsch, Karreman and Paradis (2019), for football players. The study group comprised a total of 235 sporters playing football at professional and amateur level. In the scale adaptation process the language validity, confirmatory factor analysis, divergent and convergent validity, item analysis, Cr and Cronbach’s Alpha internal consistency methods were used. The fit values obtained after the confirmatory factor analysis process were in agreement with the fit values in the literature. Appropriate results were obtained from the values Ave, √Ave, Msv and Asv for the divergent and convergent validity. In order to measure the reliability values of the data collection tool, the Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of the scale was found to be .921. The reliability coefficient regarding the sub-factors of the scale ranged from .866 to .778. The combined reliability value (CR) ranged from .87 to .71. According to the item analysis test results the total item correlation ranged from .707 to .472. In addition as a result of evaluating the lower 27% and upper 27% groups in terms of the items, significant differences were determined (p<0.05). In the study the total variance value explained was found to be 72.456% in a seven-factor structure. As a consequence; it is possible to state that the scale whose adaptation study was conducted, has a valid and reliable structure and is suitable for use by other researchers.
