The intervening role of flow experience on the interaction between perceived transformational leadership and job performance: A research on academicians

Öz

The aim of this study is to analyze the mediating role of flow at work in the relationship between perceived transformational leadership and job performance of academicians. This study adopted cross-sectional design to investigate the possible relationship between variables. A total of 408 academicians who work both in public and private universities completed Transformational Leadership Scale, Flow Scale and Job Performance Scale. Results of regression analysis indicated that perceived transformational leadership has a positive effect on job performance and flow at work has a full mediating role between perceived transformational leadership and job performance. The results also showed that positive effect of perceived transformational leadership on job performance of academicians disappears when academicians experience flow at work. Research findings confirmed the importance of flow at work. In other words, experienced flow at work is such a powerful variable that it eliminates the positive impact of perceived transformational leadership on job performance in academician population.

Algılanan dönüştürücü liderlik tarzının iş performansı üzerindeki etkisinde akış deneyiminin aracılık rolü: Akademisyenler Üzerinde bir araştırma

Öz

Bu araştırmanın amacı algılanan dönüştürücü liderlik ile iş performansı arasındaki ilişkide işte akış deneyiminin aracılık rolünü analiz etmektir. Değişkenler arası olası ilişkilerin incelenmesi için kesitsel yöntemle Devlet ve Vakıf Üniversitelerinde çalışan 408 akademisyen; Dönüştürücü Liderlik Ölçeğini, Akış Ölçeğini ve İş Performansı Ölçeğini cevaplandırmışlardır. Regresyon analizi sonuçları beklenildiği gibi algılanan dönüştürücü liderliğin iş performansı üzerinde olumlu etkisi olduğunu ve algılanan dönüştürücü liderlik ile iş performansı arasında işte akışın tam aracılık rolü olduğunu göstermiştir. Sonuçlar ayrıca algılanan dönüştürücü liderliğin iş performansı üzerindeki olumlu etkisinin akademisyenlerin işte akış deneyimlemesi ile ortadan kalktığını göstermiştir. Araştırma bulguları işte akış deneyiminin önemini ortaya koymuştur. Bir başka deyişle, işte akış o derece önemli bir değişkendir ki; akademisyen popülasyonunda algılanan dönüştürücü liderliğin iş performansı üzerindeki olumlu etkisini görünmez kılmıştır.
