Postpartum depression (PPD), defined as clinical depression that occurs anytime within the first year after birth, has become a major public health problem worldwide. Postpartum depression has risk factors such as psychiatric, obstetric, biological and hormonal, social and lifestyle. However, recently, it has been seen in the literature that analgesia and anesthesia taken during labor also affect the prevalence of postpartum depression. In this review, it is aimed to discuss the effects of analgesia and anesthesia applied at birth on postpartum depression and to discuss in the light of the literature.
